Helloo there everyone. Holaas. My name is Andre Sam but majority of people call me "Dre". Growing up as a kid, baseball was a huge thing for me. From practicing in the warm evenings after finishing tons of school assignments. Working on the same mechanics everyday and continuing to improve each week. To the last day I took the cleats off for good. I enjoyed my time playing the sport I love to death. All the memories and relationships i've made over the years and learning more about the game and how it can be just like life. That some days you could go 4-4 or 0-4, but still keep playing til that final out.
In high school, I grew so much on defense because it was my advantage point of stopping and preventing a route for the opposing team. Offensively, wasn't so bright. I've tried changing so many things about my swing, stance, and hand placements. From choking up to having one hand and the other barely gripping the knob. Nothing was working til I got to meet Paddy, then from there things had gotten a lot easier.
Paddy was my hitting coach and sometimes coach for my summer league team "Naabaahii". He's taught me so much about these techniques you hear him talk about and present. He didn't just teach me the mechanicals of hitting — my stance, my hands, my timing, how to actually stay through the ball — he taught me how to understand my swing and trust it. There would be times he would call and we would talk about my swing. Breaking down each placements and fundamentals. After he worked with me and understanding the "Paddy Method", I wasn't hesitant to swing the bat or even be afraid to striking out.
Paddy not only helped my swing but helped me with my confidence as well. To be honest Paddy isn't just a coach I met during last summer season but he's more like an older brother to me. I mean he's taught me so much more about the game and not only hitting but life itself. To helping me on and off the field. We joke, we laugh, and we can just enjoy each other's presence like the bond was already there before we even met. Through hard times, we've been there for each other, and that's something you can't really coach. I'm grateful for everything he's taught me in the box and outside of it.
